estimation of europe trip?

i obviously wouldnt mind having to stop at other places along the way if i did travel by train or whatever. the more to see, the better! i just want an estimate of length of trip and cost to see if it matches mine.

We are doing this is 11 days and are wanting a rail pass sold online that allows you up to 10 days of unlimited travel. However I have never been there or taken a train so I am clueless as to the process. Would we just show up at the train station and show our pass? If anyone has done a pass for Austira and Germany. My boys are big and independent for their ages, lots of travel experience, not fussy, but I am not as healthy or quick as them and would like to stay with them in a room, but know that won’t happen in a hostel.
