I will be travelling to Europe after graduation (summer 2011) with two other friends. We have compiled a list of possibilities which we need to narrow down to between 6-12 cities. We plan to spend at least fifty days there altogether. I would like to hear the opinion of someone with first-hand experience, and your suggestions on which would be the best for a first-time visit – also if there is any other information or tips that you can provide, that would be excellent…thanks in advance.

He was on vacation coming from America. He was Taiwanese and looked about 40-45.

What is the cheapest way to travel from Vienna to Munich?

I’ve been trying to research the cheapest train ticket from Vienna to Munich, and it looks like a ticket straight there would be around 84 Euro on the date I’d like to travel. I know Austria has the Einfach Raus ticket, and Bayern has the Bayern ticket. The Bayern ticket is good through Salzburg, isn’t it? Would it be cheapest for three people to travel with an Einfach Raus ticket from Vienna to Salzburg and then buy a Bayern ticket at Salburg and travel up to Munich? Would that even work? Would it be too much of a hassle? Don’t you have to transfer at Salzburg anyway? I’ve only ever just bought a ticket straight from Wien, but it’s so expensive and I was hoping to find a cheaper alternative.
Where do I find the special offers? I looked around on oebb.at and couldn’t find anything that would be like the 29 Euro special…
No worries, I read German. Isn’t the Einfach raus ticket only for Austria? It wouldn’t go all the way to Munich, would it? I read somewhere that the Salzburg Hbf has a DB machine so that you can buy a Bayern ticket there… Do you think it would work for three people to buy the Einfach raus ticket from Vienna to Salzburg and then buy a Bayern ticket at Salzburg Hbf to go to Munich?

I am heading to Austria in about 9 weeks (October) My wife and I are planning on visiting Innsbruck, Salzburg perhaps Wein (Vienna) I try to use the names of the countries and not Americanize their names.

Anyway, pretty much for the month of October we will be there. We didn’t want to make any reservations for quarters because we wanted some flexibility in our travels.

Are there dates or towns that due to size and or events that would make booking ahead of time be beneficial?
(Events/holidays or busy tourism season, conferences being held in a particular city on certain days known in October 2010?)

Also, any special advice or excursions/must see sites are also appreciated.

This summer, I am planning on going on holiday by myself to Salzburg in Austria, as I have been there many times before, it’s a lovely place and i have Austrian relatives who live there who I would like to visit. I’ve found a return flight I can get for £200, and I can get accomodation for seven nights for 140 Euros. What I need to know, is how much money would I need for food, travel once i get there, admissions to places like museums, etc…

I AM PLANNING ON GOING FOR SEVEN DAYS

I need to know as I’m only 16 (will be 17 next month) and ive just left college to get a break from education for a few months, I will be getting a job, and as this is the first holiday ive had to plan for myself, I need to know how much money I need to save

I will need money also for vices like alcohol and tobacco, as it is only 16 for both in Austria

(and please, no one lecturing me about smoking, I have quit, and I don’t see anything wrong with a bit of pleisure whilst on holiday, and when cigarettes are incredibly cheap)

What are the best places to visit while traveling from Berlin, Germany, to Salzburg, Austria?

My grandparents are planning to take me to Germany in a year or two, but the only place I know I want to go is Berlin. My grandmother would like to go to Austria. She didn’t specify a city, so I just chose Salzburg – right on the border, near Transtein (Germany). What are some good places to visit, that are historical (like the Berlin wall) or beautiful, like a mountain range or something? We want to visit 2 – 4 cities, starting in Berlin.
