Help.I’m being emotionally torturted. Why is he doing this to me?

Princess Marianna asked:

I live with my partner and he just came back from a trip to visit his family in Germany. He had invited a female friend to go along, as she was a mutual friend of his sister’s and she was going to be there as well. I couldn’t join because I had work and he didn’t want me to go… BUT it turns out that he had actually first gone off to Salzburg alone with that female friend (just him and her) for 3 days before actually going to his parents’ house to meet up with his sister. He told me nothing about it and I found out when I asked if I could see the photos in his camera. He says she is just a friend and nothing weird. The problem is, he just had an affair w another girl a few months ago, and we spoke about what my boundaries were – and I made it clear that I did not accept it when people went off on holiday with a person of the opposite sex, even if they were ‘just friends’. He had said he understood and I was trying to regain trust in him. But turns out he lied again. Why???

Should I go to Salzburg or Vienna?

I decided to spend 3 days vacation in Austria, and I’m thinking of either going to Salzburg or Vienna… I wanted to visit both, but I believe I only have time to visit 1 of this 2 places. Which place would you recommend and why?

What are your suggestions for a two week trip to Europe with 4 kids (ages 17, 15, 12,?

…and 10)?
We like to be in one place for a few days (not the 50 cities in 5 days kind of trip), and probably rent an apartment. We love hands-on activities, but also history and museums. Possible ideas are: Madrid, Cordoba and Barcelona; or Vienna, Salzburg and Venice; or the west coast of Turkey; or more of Italy. We prefer public transportation to renting a car. We’ll be traveling during the week of June and the beginning of July. Ideas?

Am I dividing the 16 days i’ll have in Europe sufficiently?

Marc F asked:

I would like to visit Madrid, Barcelona, Interlaken, Zurich (all by train), then fly to Prague and fly back home from there.

Im thinking
2 days in Madrid to visit a friend. 3.5 hour train ride to Barca…
3 days Barcelona (My most preferable city in Spain)
1 day to travel to Interlaken, Switzerland
3 days Interlaken
1 day to travel to Zurich or Salzburg… have not decided
2 days Zurich/Salzburg
1/2 day to fly to Prague
3 days Prague

I will be traveling solo in March, not looking to go to touristy areas. I want to experience Madrid nightlife, see FC Barcelona play a match, skydive in Interlaken, explore Zurich/Salzburg (pref Salzburg) and explore Prague.

Thanks in advance!

What was your favorite vacation ever?

The Melodious Nocturne asked:

I’m only 17, but me and my family went to Europe a couple years ago. It was great. We stayed in Baiersbronn, Germany for week. It’s like a village in the mountains and our apartment overlooked the village, just beautiful to gaze upon ever morning!

Then we stayed in Austria for 5 days, because my dad’s company is Austrian and let us stay in this nice guest house for free. Then we stayed in Munich for the last 4 days. And we went all over the place. We went to France for a day, and went up a cable car to the mountains, and went to Salzburg.

Great vacation.

What’s yours?

Buying train tickets for Austrian holiday?

salzburg holiday
Aaron G asked:

Hi,

We am planning a one week holiday to Austria between 17-24 December this year. Note I have already received some excellent responses to an earlier question regarding what to do – just need to sort the transport out now!

All I need to know now is how do you book train tickets within the Austrian network? We are going to be based in both Salzburg & Vienna, but will need to buy a return to Vienna from Salzburg.

Is it necessary (and cheaper) to buy them in the UK before we go? Or just wait until we arrive in Salzburg?

My only concern is not being able to secure tickets once we are there (not sure what the demand is like), or it may be more economical to purchase beforehand. Thanks

Am I ungrateful to my parents?

salzburg vacation
Julia45X asked:

I´ve posted this in the Family section but I´m also posting it here to get the opinions of parents.

I´m at university and right now I´m spending summer with my parents in their house in the country. They invited me to go on holiday to Salzburg, Austria with them but I declined. First, I have been there at least three times. Second, my dad speaks some German but when I´m around they both just let me communicate because I speak German fluently and I´m tired of being their interpreter when I´m supposed to be on vacation. Third, I´ve spent quite a lot of money on a few weekend vacations with my boyfriend this summer and I´ve got some money left for a trip to Paris, France in September. My parents are willing to pay for my trip with them but I don´t want them to. I am 19 and when I´m at school they pay my rent and tuition which adds up to a fair amount, even for them. They were kind of disappointed when I told them I would not go with them and now I feel ungrateful for not wanting to go…
Brent, I would like to clarify some things. First, a vacation in Austria is not that expensive as it only 500 miles away. Second, I do have a job and pay most of my expenses including my car, food, clothes, cell phone any many other.
I know I asked for your opinion and I respect it, I just don´t want to look like a total spoiled brat.

Joe The Great One asked:

I am having a stopover in Munich for a total of 11 hours, that gives me 8-9 spare hours, I am traveling 3 adults and 3 kids (ages 7 5 and infant) I was advised to travel to Salzberg which is a very beautiful city and not too far… I looked up train tickets and the cost would be over $500 is there any family plan? or different way of getting there that wouldnt cost so much?
