Eurolines probably.

Coach from whatever your nearest National Express city pick-up point is to London, Victoria coach station, then a Euro lines coach to Austria.

Cheapest fare £107.00 return. I used Leeds to Vienna for an example. Fill in your requirements on the website below to get an accurate figure.

I've been to Poland, Krakow on Eurolines. Journey is not too bad.

You don't say where your journey would start, but you could travel from Leeds or Manchester to Linz, in Austria, by coach. Leaving in the early hours of the 14th Aug., you arrive in Linz at 0445hrs on the 15th Aug. Salzburg is then an hour away by train. Return on the 19th Aug. at 2145hrs, arriving back at your starting point between 22.00 and 22.30hrs on the 20th Aug. The return coach fare is £98.00. Alternatively, you can fly from London Stansted, at 0630hrs on the 15th, arriving in Salzburg at 0925hrs. Return on the 19th Aug. at 2120hrs, arriving Stansted at 2210hrs. Price - £123.26. Hope this helps.

if you do not want to fly, from either Manchester or somewhere else up north

Look at taking a coach, go from North Engliand to London, Victoria bus station has coaches which go to europe through either holland or france and you can go by coach I am sure the whole way

never tried this but it might work. make sure u have a comprehensive breakdown cover, then drive about 35 miles from your home, then pull a bit out of your car and call the breakdown service, if they cant fix the problem they will take you to your destination.
