We are traveling from Prague to Salzburg on 30/08/07 and from Salzburg to Prague on the 9th Sept. Has anyone any advice on the best/cheapest train/coach options
If you prefer to rent a car and have an international driver license, there is a Yahoo Map below.
The Deutsch Bundesbahn website indicates as low as about 60 Euros each for 2nd Class. I don’t have a website for Cheklosovakia to check the other way around.
I lived in Germany for 7 years and love the train.
Type Prague to Salzburg in to your Google search engine & click on to Salzburg Forum: Salzburg from Prague:Trip Adviser. This very question appears and, looking at the answers, it does not seem to be an easy journey by train, although possible.
There is no coach connection via Eurolines, but an alternative does exist in the form of car transfer. For a 4hour journey of approx. 235 miles the price is 389 euros (£260.00). This is for up to 4 persons with luggage. You book this on-line but pay the driver on the day.
Prague to Salzburg is no problem by train. me and a friend did it. you just have to change trains in Vienna.

the above is quite a good site for getting an idea of times and prices but you don’t save too much booking in advance if you’d rather keep your options open regarding times etc.
