I’m working on a budget of 300-350 Euros for lodging expenses (inclusive of booking fees); I’ll travel with my female friend and we want really cheap lodgings. The cheaper, the better! We’ll travel by early May up to the early third week.
Most of the cities you wish to go to have rooms for rent in private residences. They are called mostly “pensions” spelled a bit different for each country. But we stayed in Gmunden, Austria, right on the lake at the base of the alps for $25 each per night. You just go to the tourist information center and they tell you who has a room for rent. I would only make a reservation for your first night or two, then venture out from there.
