My original plan was to just purchase tickets the day of the planned ride. I was just wondering if trains are ever sold out, which could mess up my plans.

I’ve just seen a report on here that Ryanair is planning to rip out some of the rear seats, on flights of not more than 1.5 hours, allowing people to travel for much less (free?) if they stand. They are talking about bar stools like on trains.

Begs the question what about hitting turbulance? Personally I’d far rather be strapped in, even if Ryanair flights are like airborn cattle trucks and if they go down, the chances of getting out are pretty low (experience Stanstead to Salzburg and also Stanstead to Newquay!!).
