He told me nothing about it and I found out when I asked if I could see the photos in his camera. He says she is just a friend and nothing weird. The problem is, he just had an affair w another girl a few months ago, and we spoke about what my boundaries were – and I made it clear that I did not accept it when people went off on holiday with a person of the opposite sex, even if they were ‘just friends’. He had said he understood and I was trying to regain trust in him. But turns out he lied again. Why???

I decided to spend 3 days vacation in Austria, and I’m thinking of either going to Salzburg or Vienna… I wanted to visit both, but I believe I only have time to visit 1 of this 2 places. Which place would you recommend and why?

2 days in Madrid to visit a friend. 3.5 hour train ride to Barca…
3 days Barcelona (My most preferable city in Spain)
1 day to travel to Interlaken, Switzerland
3 days Interlaken
1 day to travel to Zurich or Salzburg… have not decided
2 days Zurich/Salzburg
1/2 day to fly to Prague
3 days Prague

I will be traveling solo in March, not looking to go to touristy areas. I want to experience Madrid nightlife, see FC Barcelona play a match, skydive in Interlaken, explore Zurich/Salzburg (pref Salzburg) and explore Prague.

We am planning a one week holiday to Austria between 17-24 December this year. Note I have already received some excellent responses to an earlier question regarding what to do – just need to sort the transport out now!

All I need to know now is how do you book train tickets within the Austrian network? We are going to be based in both Salzburg & Vienna, but will need to buy a return to Vienna from Salzburg.

Is it necessary (and cheaper) to buy them in the UK before we go? Or just wait until we arrive in Salzburg?

My only concern is not being able to secure tickets once we are there (not sure what the demand is like), or it may be more economical to purchase beforehand. Thanks

I’ve been trying to research the cheapest train ticket from Vienna to Munich, and it looks like a ticket straight there would be around 84 Euro on the date I’d like to travel. I know Austria has the Einfach Raus ticket, and Bayern has the Bayern ticket. The Bayern ticket is good through Salzburg, isn’t it? Would it be cheapest for three people to travel with an Einfach Raus ticket from Vienna to Salzburg and then buy a Bayern ticket at Salburg and travel up to Munich? Would that even work? Would it be too much of a hassle? Don’t you have to transfer at Salzburg anyway? I’ve only ever just bought a ticket straight from Wien, but it’s so expensive and I was hoping to find a cheaper alternative.
Where do I find the special offers? I looked around on oebb.at and couldn’t find anything that would be like the 29 Euro special…
No worries, I read German. Isn’t the Einfach raus ticket only for Austria? It wouldn’t go all the way to Munich, would it? I read somewhere that the Salzburg Hbf has a DB machine so that you can buy a Bayern ticket there… Do you think it would work for three people to buy the Einfach raus ticket from Vienna to Salzburg and then buy a Bayern ticket at Salzburg Hbf to go to Munich?

I am heading to Austria in about 9 weeks (October) My wife and I are planning on visiting Innsbruck, Salzburg perhaps Wein (Vienna) I try to use the names of the countries and not Americanize their names.

Anyway, pretty much for the month of October we will be there. We didn’t want to make any reservations for quarters because we wanted some flexibility in our travels.

Are there dates or towns that due to size and or events that would make booking ahead of time be beneficial?
(Events/holidays or busy tourism season, conferences being held in a particular city on certain days known in October 2010?)

Also, any special advice or excursions/must see sites are also appreciated.
