Is RailEurope Central Europe Triangle pass is worth?

bluestar_213 asked:

I am travelling to austria and Czech in the next month. I have planned to visit Vienna-Prague-Salzburg. For getting from one city to another i am planning to buy raileurope’s Central europe triangle pass for 99 Euro.

Is it worth buying it.
Is reservation required?
Should i buy the reservation also with the pass?
can i reserve the seat after reaching in vienna on the station itself?

Any there who experienced travelling in these countries with a rail pass?

The railpass — any railpass, in fact — will get you aboard the trains. However, if you want to be guaranteed a seat, it is a good idea to buy a reservation in advance. I usually get mine at the station a few days before my train leaves. If I will be traveling during a peak holiday travel period, I get it even further in advance, as trains fill up quickly when everyone is off traveling on a holiday. If the lines are too long at the train station ticket windows, go outside and look for a travel agency. They also sell reservations at the same price you’d pay in the station, but the lines are virtually non-existent.

The price is a good one. Visit Austrian Rail’s website,, and compare the fares for point-to-point tickets with the €99 cost of the railpass.

Enjoy beautiful Austria and the Czech Republic!
