Visit the Austrian railways website for schedules.

The Vienna Airport train has its own website.

When you get to the airport you want bus or taxi to Vienna Central = Wien Hauptbahnhof (Wien HBF). Frequent trains to Salzburg.

On the return, Salzburg HBF to Wien HBF then bus or taxi to the airport. As it’s 2 major cities in Austria, plenty of trains. When you get off at Vienna, ask for a timetable for services to Salzburg (Fahrplan zur Bahnfahrt nach Salzburg). This will show you all the passenger train times.

Vienna has several large rail stations.
To get to Salzburg you need to go to the Westbahnhof and catch a train that’s going to Bregenz. It’s the main east-west service of the Austrian Railways. The train stops at Salzburg and takes about three hours.
When you reach Salzburg, to travel within the city there’s comprehensive trolleybus network serving all areas.

It’s difficult to know how much time to allow you to get off your plane, through immigration, collect your baggage and suchlike, but from the airport you can either catch the expensive CAT (City Airport Train) for 9 euros one way (takes 16 minutes) or the ordinary S-bahn train 3.60 euro one way 2nd class (takes 24 minutes), both will get you to Wien Mitte station.

Then take the U-bahn line U3, direction Ottakring for 9 minutes to Westbahnhof, fare 1.80 euros. Contrary to Squeaky’s answer, Vienna has NO “Hauptbahnhof” (Hbf) – you need the station for the “Western Railway (Westbahn)”.

You are now likely to be taking a VERY late train from Westbahnhof to Salzburg – journey time is 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes. There are EN (EuroNight) trains at 2225 and 2244, but you won’t arrive in Salzburg until around 0130 or 0210 – you would probably be better off staying in a hotel in Vienna and travelling next morning – I usually stay at the Hotel Fuerstenhof, which is just over the Europaplatz from Westbahnhof, at Neubaugurtel 4. 2nd class fare one way from Vienna to Salzburg is 47.50 euro, or 23.80 euro if you’ve bought an annual VORTEILScard.

in addition to what younousygit already said: If you take the S-Bahn from the eirport to ‘Wien Mitte’ station the ticket fare of €3.60 already includes travel within Vienna – so you don’t need an additional ticket for the subway. But if you choose the CityAirportTrain you need one (the CAT is not included in the linked transport system of the viennese area and therefore has it’s very own tickets). So I recommend to use the S-Bahn (follow the blue signs with a white S-shaped logo).
In ‘Wien Mitte’ station simply walk *downstairs* from the platform and you will easily find the U3 subway line. Take the left-hand platform (direction ‘Ottakring’) and travel to ‘Westbahnhof’. On the front-end of the platform you will find an elevator which takes yo directly to the train station.

But it is very unlikely that you will be able to catch the last day train to salzburg (which departs at 20:40) so like younousygit I’d recommend to stay at a hotel for the night (there are lots of hotels around Westbahnhof station).
